Accra:The government is gearing up to spotlight its universal health coverage system and the Village Health Volunteer (VHV) network at the IMF-World Bank 2026 forum, aiming to promote its public health strengths and the health economy globally.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Mr. Pattana Promphat, Minister of Public Health, will lead the presentation of Thailand's public health system at the Thailand Pavilion exhibition during the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings 2026. Thailand is hosting the event from October 12-18, providing an opportunity to showcase its healthcare services and health economy development.
The exhibition is set to open on October 12th and will feature three main zones. The Longevity zone will highlight Thailand's universal health coverage system, ensuring citizens access to essential health services without financial burden. This comprehensive coverage includes everything from health promotion and disease prevention to rehabilitation and palliative care.
A notable feature is the nationwide network of Village Health Volunteers (VHVs), which play a key role in bridging the public health system with local communities. They provide health education, conduct disease surveillance, perform household health surveys, and coordinate care, underscoring Thailand's emphasis on community participation in healthcare.
Additionally, the Longevity Zone will display Thailand's health and wellness industry, showcasing products and services such as healthy food, bio-cosmetics, Thai massage, precision medicine, and wellness services. This initiative highlights Thailand's capacity to transform its public healthcare system and health-related sectors into economic and investment opportunities.
The exhibition at the IMF-World Bank forum is seen as a strategic opportunity to present Thailand's public health achievements and community-based healthcare model to global economic and financial policymakers. These efforts are expected to contribute to improved quality of life and sustainable economic growth.
