Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas Unveils AI Strategy at International Conference

Bangkok:Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas announced a comprehensive three-pillar strategy aimed at advancing national artificial intelligence adoption. This strategic plan was presented during the "Small AI More and Better Jobs" session at the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

According to Thai News Agency, the strategy focuses on sustainable economic development through responsible AI integration. The three core pillars include "AI in all," which aims to upgrade efficiency across traditional businesses. An example is the "Nok Krasip" AI assistant within a mobile wallet application, designed to support nearly 1 million small merchants in managing inventory and calculating profits.

The second pillar, "All in AI," seeks to prepare the workforce for new job roles by attracting investments in data centers and semiconductors, collaborating with educational institutions for workforce upskilling, and reducing access costs for startups and SMEs.

The third pillar, "AI for all," targets inclusive growth by supporting workers and businesses during technological transitions and integrating government data to offer targeted assistance.

The Thai government is also prioritizing international cooperation, particularly with the World Bank and other global institutions, to share best practices and address online threats, including deepfakes, ensuring safe and responsible AI governance.
