Flash Flood Devastates Ratchaburi Province, Impacting Residents and Agriculture

Ratchaburi:A flash flood in Ratchaburi province has caused significant damage, affecting both residents and agriculture. The floodwaters rose overnight, driven by accumulated water from streams and the Huai Samnak Mai Teng reservoir, leading to the overflow of the Ang Thong 1 canal. This resulted in flooding near Phet Kasem Road and residential areas, notably behind Wat Khao Noi Thiam Sawan.

According to Thai News Agency, a 77-year-old woman from Moo 5, Ang Thong Subdistrict, who recently returned from the hospital, struggled to move her belongings to safety when the flood struck at around 2 AM. Suffering from osteoporosis, she required assistance from her 71-year-old sister to temporarily relocate her items. The woman, reliant on a cane for mobility, is now concerned about her ability to clean the mud once the water recedes.

The flood also claimed the lives of fighting cock chicks in her coop. In another incident, Mr. Chai Salaniyatham, a resident of Moo 4, lost approximately 30 fighting roosters despite efforts to secure his belongings after a flood warning was announced. The parent roosters managed to escape to the roof. Additionally, Mr. Chai's orchard was severely affected, with 80 rambutan trees and over 200 cocoa trees completely damaged by the floodwaters.
