Bangkok:Thai youth ice hockey teams under the ages of 14 and 16 paid their respects at sacred sites for good fortune ahead of their participation in international tournaments in New Zealand and Australia. M.L. Krisada Kasemsant, President of the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand, led the ceremony held in front of Rajamangala National Stadium, intended to boost the teams' morale before their departure.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was attended by Janista Liewchalermwong, the manager of both teams. The athletes are set to compete in the Pan Pacific Series in New Zealand and the One Hockey, 14th PEE WEE and BANTAM International Tournament 2026 in Australia.
M.L. Krisada Kasemsant highlighted that visiting the sacred site is a tradition maintained by the association to bring good fortune and morale to the athletes before international competitions. This practice is seen as vital for the development of young talents who may eventually replace senior players in the national team.
The association emphasized that beyond competition results, the athletes' role as cultural ambassadors is crucial. Demonstrating sportsmanship, discipline, and friendship aims to enhance Thailand's image globally.
