Bangkok:A young man identified as Mr. Natthanon, also known as "Leng," has been remanded in custody for assaulting a woman at a traffic light at Lat Phrao Intersection and causing property damage. The 19-year-old suspect was taken to the Bangkok North District Court on charges of assault, property damage, and drug use. Police have opposed granting bail.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred when Mr. Leng allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old woman driving a Honda Jazz while stopped at a red light. He claimed the victim had collided with his car first and that he was unaware she was a woman when she bowed in apology. Despite expressing a desire to apologize, Mr. Leng refused to answer questions about drug use and denied previous violent behavior.
The victim, who remains anxious and traumatized by the incident, reported that her left eye injury is worsening and causing significant pain. She has been following the developments closely and expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by authorities. However, she finds the suspect's claim of ignorance regarding her gender implausible, as she had opened her car door and bowed before being assaulted.
