Bangkok:The whips of the three parties have set the date for the no-confidence debate to be held from December 7-11, totaling 72 hours.
According to Thai News Agency, the opposition will have 51 hours, while the Cabinet and government will have 17 hours. Parit Wacharasindhu mentioned the possibility of discussing with the Cabinet to allocate time sooner if feasible and is preparing to discuss sharing time with the Kla Tham Party.
The meeting of the three-party House of Representatives coordinating committee, chaired by Ms. Mallika Chiraphanvanich, focused on setting a timeframe for the general debate on a no-confidence motion against individual ministers, as per Section 151 of the 2017 Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand. The meeting included representatives such as Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul from the Cabinet, Mr. Koravee Prisnanantakul as government whip chairman, and Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu as the opposition whip chairman. The meeting lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Following the meeting, a joint press conference was held. Mr. Parit revealed that the debate will last four full days, totaling 72 hours, with the opposition receiving an increased 51 hours due to the higher number of ministers. The Cabinet has been allocated 17 hours, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives will have 4 hours for oversight. The debate schedule is set for long sessions, with the first three days running from 800 AM to 300 AM, and the final day ending at 1100 PM before the vote on the fifth day.
Mr. Koravee noted that the discussions concluded satisfactorily for all parties, with the only pending issue being confirmation of the debate date from the Cabinet. He also expressed confidence that the time allocated to both the opposition and the Cabinet would be sufficient for performing their respective duties during the debate.
