Chumphon Floods Disrupt Daily Life and Events in Five Districts

Chumphon:Severe flooding has impacted five districts in Chumphon, causing significant disruptions, including the flooding of the main road to Chumphon Airport.

According to Thai News Agency, the flooding has affected 11 sub-districts and 26 villages, impacting 253 people from 142 households. The districts affected include Mueang Chumphon, Pathio, Tha Sae, Lamae, and Lang Suan. The main road between Pathio District and Chumphon Airport, particularly near Moo 2 in Chum Kho Subdistrict, is underwater, making it impassable for small vehicles. Authorities have advised using alternative routes.

Rescue teams, affiliated with the Chumphon Provincial Journalists Association, are working to assist villagers in moving their belongings to higher ground amid the rising floodwaters. The persistent moderate to heavy rainfall has complicated these efforts.

Governor Thianchai Chookittivibul has instructed district-level agencies and community leaders to monitor the situation closely. A 24-hour hotline has been launched by Mr. Nopporn Usit, President of the Chumphon Provincial Administrative Organization, to coordinate assistance for affected residents.

The Chumphon Provincial Public Relations Office has announced the temporary cancellation of the Royal Trophy Longboat Racing Competition on the Lang Suan River due to strong currents. Organizers will announce a new schedule once conditions improve, and the public is urged to stay updated on developments.
