PEA Issues Warning Over Scammers Targeting Solar Power Program Participants

Bangkok:The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has issued a warning to the public interested in the community solar power project about the presence of scammers. These fraudsters are reportedly impersonating officials or business operators to deceive individuals into providing personal information and OTP codes.

According to Thai News Agency, PEA emphasizes the importance of protecting personal information. It advises participants to verify their identity before submitting any information and to ensure that only the registered electricity user's data is used. The PEA stresses that OTP should be used to confirm the validity of phone numbers or email addresses.

Registration for the program is strictly available through the official website, https//peoplesolar.pea.co.th/, or other channels announced by PEA. The public is urged to be cautious of impersonation attempts, as PEA will not contact participants via calls or SMS messages to request OTP codes. Verification of registered operators must be conducted through official PEA channels, and individuals should avoid being misled by fraudulent calls or SMS messages with clickable links.

The PEA further warns against sharing OTP codes or verifying identity via ThaiID upon request from others. It highlights that project rights are non-transferable, and both OTP codes and personal information must remain confidential. For inquiries related to the community solar power project, the PEA advises contacting the 1129 PEA Contact Center, which operates 24 hours a day.
