Bangkok:The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has initiated an investigation into the financial dealings of the "Good Deeds Organization" following allegations of fund misuse. Evidence has been found suggesting potential financial improprieties, prompting the authorities to conduct a thorough and fair investigation. The police are encouraging public and donor participation by inviting them to provide any additional evidence or information.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nattasak Chaowanasai, Commander of the Central Investigation Bureau, reported progress in the case after a complaint was filed by Ms. Boonyanuch Saengsri, also known as "Oysri," against the Good Deeds Foundation, chaired by Ms. Panadda Wongphudee, or "Boom Panadda." The complaint, lodged on October 30th, includes allegations of public fraud, breaches of the Computer Crime Act, and money laundering. The investigation team is examining various aspects of the foundation's operations, particularly the management of donations and the involvement of certain individuals, ensuring that evidence takes precedence over other considerations.
The investigation has uncovered substantial information regarding potentially improper fund usage, although it remains inconclusive whether any illegal practices have occurred. A detailed review of spending practices will ascertain compliance with the foundation's regulations, especially regarding the president's authority to approve expenditures. If expenditures exceed their budget, prior board approval may have been necessary, and officials are verifying adherence to these protocols.
Additionally, potential money laundering and asset transfers are under scrutiny, with investigations extending back to 2019 to trace financial activities, including contributions from prominent individuals. It is imperative to delineate personal accounts from foundation-related ones to evaluate the damage accurately.
In cases where the complainant's donation was minimal, yet broader fraudulent activities are suspected, legal action might still proceed if sufficient evidence of misconduct is found. The timeline for issuing summonses or arrest warrants remains undecided, as it depends on the evidence, circumstances, and the overall scope of the damages. A meeting with the working group will determine subsequent steps. The CIB remains open to receiving further information from all parties involved and is committed to a comprehensive judicial examination.
