Meteorological Department Issues Weather Warning for Thailand from November 5-9

Bangkok:The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for volatile weather conditions expected to affect Thailand from November 5th to November 9th. The warning highlights the potential for heavy rain in northern Thailand from November 5-7, and heavy to very heavy rain in the southern regions from November 7-9.

According to Thai News Agency, the second weather warning for the period of November 5-7, 2026, indicates that upper Thailand will experience unstable weather, including thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall, particularly affecting the Northeast initially. The weather conditions are expected to spread to the North, Central regions, including Bangkok and surrounding areas, and the East. The public is advised to be cautious and avoid open areas, large trees, and unstable advertising signs.

From November 7th to 9th, the southern region is anticipated to see an increase in rainfall, with the possibility of flash floods and landslides, especially in slope areas near waterways and low-lying regions. Accumulated rainfall could pose significant risks, and the public is urged to monitor the weather situation closely.

These weather conditions are attributed to a new wave of cold air from China, which is spreading over northern Thailand and the South China Sea. This results in stronger easterly winds over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

In the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, thunderstorms may cause waves to exceed 2 meters in height. Mariners are advised to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas experiencing thunderstorms.
