Bangkok:The Cabinet has approved a new "joint BTS/MRT ticket" pricing system, set between 17 and 45 baht per trip, effectively eliminating duplicate initial fees and encompassing all BTS lines throughout Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, the unified fare system aims to reduce living costs for the public by standardizing fares across all electric train lines in Bangkok and its surrounding areas, beginning in 2027. The fare will range from 17 to 45 baht per trip, with no additional initial charges.
The implementation of this measure is estimated to cost 5,807 million baht. The Cabinet has directed the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to collect data on travel volume and revenue for the first six months of implementation. This information will support negotiations on revenue sharing with the government, and a report will be presented to the Cabinet following this period.
