Protesters in Southern Thailand Demand Diesel Price Reduction

Nakhon Si Thammarat:Protesters from southern Thailand have gathered in Nakhon Si Thammarat and are preparing to march to Government House on November 7th, demanding a 10 baht reduction in diesel prices.

According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere at Khuan Nong Hong intersection in Chawuat District has been lively since the morning, with many people arriving from Khuan Nong Hong Subdistrict, nearby districts, and provinces such as Phatthalung, Songkhla, and the three southern border provinces. This location marks the initial gathering point for the People's Revolutionary Front for the Protection of the Land and those affected by high living costs due to rising energy prices. The group will proceed to Surat Thani province before reaching Gate 4 of the Government House on November 7th, with an estimated 300-500 trucks and cars participating.

Mr. Mano Kreukaew, headman of Krabi Noi Subdistrict and protest leader, stated that the movement is independent of any political group. The protesters are calling for an immediate reduction of 10 baht per liter in diesel prices and serious action on drug issues. Despite concerns about potential obstructions in Chumphon Province, the group remains confident in gathering 1,000 vehicles at the Government House on November 7th.

Police Major General Sukasem Nakornwilai, Commander of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, has organized security measures and public convenience preparations at the Khuan Nong Hong intersection. The police have mobilized to manage traffic, ensure security, and address any incidents during the rally as the procession advances towards Bangkok.
