High Humidity and Dust-Laden Fog Blanket Bangkok

Bangkok: This morning, Bangkok and its surrounding areas experienced high humidity levels, resulting in thick fog mixed with dust. The situation is expected to improve as cold wind begins to clear the smoke from the area.

According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department's Weather Forecast Division reported a humidity level of 90% in the Bangkok metropolitan area and nearby provinces in the central region. This led to a thick mix of fog and smoke. However, as the day progressed, a cold wind began dispersing the smoke, improving the air quality. The wind started blowing through the northeastern region, reaching Kanchanaburi by 11:00 AM, and is expected to arrive in Bangkok by 4:00 PM. The weather is anticipated to clear up, and from Monday, January 27, onward, the dust and smoke in Bangkok are predicted to show gradual improvement.

The Bangkok Air Quality Data Center reported that the PM 2.5 measurements this morning exceeded the health safety standard at the red level in four areas, with Nong Chok District recording the highest level at 82.7 micrograms per cubic meter. Additionally, 66 areas recorded PM 2.5 levels at the orange level, indicating a beginning impact on health.
