Bangkok: Police are urgently searching for a gunman who shot and killed a condo maintenance worker while he was riding his motorcycle home. The bullet went through his helmet and pierced his skull, killing him instantly. His ex-girlfriend revealed that the deceased had only been enrolled at a famous mechanical engineering institute for one month.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred at 8:00 p.m. yesterday. Thammasala Police Station received a report that someone had been shot dead next to a house in Soi Borommaratchachonnani 78, Sala Thammasop Subdistrict, Thawi Watthana District. At the scene, officers found the body of Mr. Phongsakorn, age 29, wearing a black jacket over a white short-sleeved shirt, lying dead near a motorcycle with a bullet wound to his right ear through the left temple and a bullet hole in his helmet.
People near the scene reported hearing the sound of motorcycles chasing each other, then heard two gunshots. When they went to look, they found a motorcycle overturned with the deceased still sitting astride it. Initially, they thought the deceased had lost consciousness because he had lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a wall. However, when rescuers arrived to help and removed the buff from his head, they saw a gunshot wound to his right ear that went through his left temple. When they looked at his helmet, they saw a bullet hole, prompting them to call the police immediately as it was not a normal accident.
While the ex-boyfriend of the deceased mentioned that throughout their two-year relationship, he had never seen the deceased have problems with anyone. However, one month before their breakup, the deceased had applied to study at a renowned mechanical institute in the Pathumwan area. A friend noted that he had been frequently seen entering and leaving the institute recently, raising questions about whether it was related to the incident.
The police initially investigated and found out that the deceased was a maintenance technician at a condo in the Sathon area. It is believed that after work, he was riding his motorcycle home when he was chased and shot by his rival. The deceased tried to ride his motorcycle to escape into the house but was not able to escape and was shot in the helmet. The bullet penetrated the skull, and he died less than 100 meters from the house. The police are currently reviewing cameras to find clues about the escape route in order to bring the perpetrator to justice.
