Bangkok: Anusorn Eiamsa-ard, a party-list MP from the Pheu Thai Party, expressed optimism about the Department of Special Investigation's (DSI) initiative to investigate potential collusion in the Senate election. He noted that DSI's efforts to recreate the events of the election day to gather evidence reflect a commitment to addressing societal doubts.
According to Thai News Agency, the DSI's proactive stance could serve as a crucial foundation for further investigations by relevant agencies, including the Election Commission (EC). The EC is urged to utilize this opportunity to demonstrate transparency and assure the public that no political group receives undue advantages. Concerns arose during the simulation about candidates' seemingly pre-known results and systematic vote recording, suggesting potential irregularities.
The DSI's classification of this situation as a special case underscores the severity of potential misconduct and the influence of powerful networks. Anusorn emphasized the necessity of a thorough and impartial investigation to uncover the truth. He also addressed the Ombudsman's decision to conclude its probe into the Senate selection collusion, urging a clear explanation to maintain credibility and public trust.
Anusorn stated, 'The performance of all parties must be transparent and verifiable to build public confidence and ensure the senator election process is as honest, fair, and transparent as possible.'
