Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Inaugurates SAF Production Unit at Bangchak Refinery

Bangkok: Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the inauguration of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production unit at the Bangchak Refinery. According to Thai News Agency, the event marked the unveiling of the SAF production unit signboard by Her Royal Highness, who also viewed the exhibition titled 'From Renewable Energy Leader to Future Energy Leader'. This exhibition was displayed in the hall preceding the ceremony room. Additionally, Her Royal Highness took a commemorative photo with the committee, Bangchak Group executives, and distinguished guests, signed the memorial book, and planted a Nil Nil tree. The SAF production unit, operated by BSGF Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Bangchak Group, represents Thailand's first 100% Neat SAF production facility using used cooking oil and alternative raw materials. The unit adheres to an internationally certified system and is expected to commence production in the second quarter of 2025, with an initial capacity of 1 million liters per day. This initiative aligns with the royal projects on renewable energy and resource utilization initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. The development of Neat SAF aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 80% compared to traditional fuels, aiding the aviation industry in mitigating climate change impacts and fostering the growth of the BCG economy.
