Bangkok: The government has announced the extension of the registration period for the 'You Fight, We Help' project, which aims to assist small debtors and SMEs, until the end of June.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sasikarn Wattanachan, deputy government spokeswoman, stated that the initiative is a collaborative effort between the government, the Bank of Thailand (BOT), commercial banks, specialized financial institutions, and non-bank business operators. The project, which has been open for registration since December 12, 2024, is designed to support retail debtors and SME entrepreneurs impacted by economic challenges.
As of April 24, 2025, there were 1.6 million registered accounts from 1.3 million debtors. Following a qualification check on April 15, 2025, it was determined that 530,000 individuals, or 27 percent of the 1.9 million qualified debtors, met the criteria. This group represents a total debt of 385 billion baht, or 43 percent of the total eligible debt amounting to 890 billion baht.
In light of the ongoing global economic volatility, which continues to affect vulnerable debtors, the government, in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance, the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), the Bank of Thailand, and relevant financial institutions, has decided to extend the registration deadline. Originally set to conclude on April 30, 2025, the project will now accept registrations until June 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
The government remains committed to aiding retail debtors and SMEs experiencing financial difficulties by allowing those who have not yet registered to apply for the project until 23:59 on June 30, 2025.
