Bangkok: Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP) and member of parliament, confirmed the amicable departure of Mr. Uttama Savanayana and Mr. Sonthirat Sonthijirawong from the party. He stated that both individuals left to pursue personal business interests and have not moved to any other political party. Gen. Prawit did not comment on rumors regarding a phone call inviting them to return to join the government.
According to Thai News Agency, Gen. Prawit explained that Mr. Uttama and Mr. Sonthirat had communicated their reasons for leaving, focusing solely on their private business endeavors. When pressed about whether the two had indicated any future political affiliations, Gen. Prawit confirmed they did not disclose any such intentions. He reiterated the peaceful nature of their departure.
Questions regarding potential new members joining the Palang Pracharath Party or the dissolution of the House of Representatives were met with no response from Gen. Prawit. Additionally, he chose not to comment on reports about Mr. Chaiyamongkol Chairob, a deputy leader of the Palang Pracharath Party, who mentioned that Gen. Prawit had received an invitation to return to the government.
Mr. Paiboon Nititawan, secretary-general of the Palang Pracharath Party, added that Mr. Uttama and Mr. Sonthirat had shown respect to Gen. Prawit before their departure to focus on personal matters. He confirmed that the process had been formalized with the Election Commission earlier that morning and emphasized the positive working relationship they had shared.
