Aranyaprathet: DSI - Cambodian police hold bilateral meeting to move forward with SOP agreement on human trafficking cases, strengthening cross-border cooperation mechanisms. Yesterday, the Department of Special Investigation, together with the Cambodian National Police (CNP), held a bilateral meeting on international cooperation in human trafficking investigation in Aranyaprathet District, Sa Kaeo Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting saw the participation of key figures such as Pol. Maj. Col. Yuthana Phraedam, who assigned Pol. Capt. Suravut Rangsai to lead the Thai delegation, and Pol. Lt. Gen. CHIV PHALLY, representing the Cambodian side. Attendees included officials from the Human Trafficking Case Division, the Anti-Human Trafficking and Protection of Children and Youth of Cambodia, and representatives from the ASEAN-ACT project.
The main focus of the meeting was to bolster practical cooperation in investigating human trafficking and forced labor cases. Discussions centered around the draft of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), jointly developed by DSI and CNP, aiming to enhance cross-border cooperation to tackle transnational crimes in the digital age.
Pol. Lt. Col. Suravut Rangsai highlighted the significance of the SOP as a framework for collaboration and a symbol of Thailand and Cambodia's commitment to addressing human trafficking effectively. Pol. Lt. Gen. CHIV PHALLY stressed the importance of deep collaboration to protect victims and prosecute offenders both nationally and regionally. The ASEAN-ACT project, represented by Ms. Darlene PAJARITO, expressed her satisfaction with the progress and cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to expedite internal processes for SOP approval, aiming for an official signing ceremony in the next meeting to implement the procedures effectively.
