According to Thai News Agency, the Democrat Party held its first extraordinary general meeting of 2026 on January 21, emphasizing a modern and transparent political image. The meeting utilized a fully online system and focused on strengthening the party's executive team in preparation for the upcoming election.
Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, chaired the meeting at the party headquarters, with Mr. Chaiwut Bannawat, the party secretary-general, serving as the meeting's secretary. The meeting was facilitated via Zoom to ensure participation from party members across the country.
The primary agenda was the election of vacant positions on the party's executive committee, specifically "Deputy Party Leader for Specific Tasks" and "Deputy Party Leader for the Northeastern Region." The voting process adhered to strict and transparent guidelines, utilizing a secret ballot system via Google Forms, in line with the party's digital transformation policy.
The meeting saw significant participation, with over 400 party members present, surpassing the minimum quorum requirement of 250 people as stipulated in party regulations. This turnout reflects the unity and enthusiasm of Democrat Party members under Mr. Abhisit's leadership, who aims to present an honest and constructive political approach, making the party a reliable choice for the people.
