Bangkok: Academics advise the government to communicate the facts, believing Thailand's energy sector remains stable. They highlight the necessity for both governmental and public cooperation in navigating potential prolonged conflicts.
According to Thai News Agency, Assistant Professor Wanwichit Boonproong from Rangsit University's Faculty of Political Science commented on Thailand's current energy status amidst the volatile global energy markets due to tensions in the Middle East. He reassured that Thailand's energy security is intact, although there are impacts on public services, these have not escalated to a crisis level, with the government managing the situation effectively. Wanwichit stressed the importance of clear and truthful communication from the government to the public about the uncertainties and potential long-term impacts on the global energy system.
Assistant Professor Wanwichit highlighted the critical role of government communication during global volatility. He advocated for communication based on factual information that explains the structural context of the global energy system to help the public understand the overall situation and reduce panic from online news.
He emphasized the need for the government to frankly inform the public about the abnormal global situation and the likelihood of an intensified and prolonged conflict in the Middle East, which will inevitably affect the global economy and energy sector. He urged for preparations of countermeasures by various countries.
Academics from Rangsit University also stressed the importance of cooperation from all parties in dealing with the current energy situation. They urged the public to adapt to potential changes, focusing on efficient energy use and preparing for global economic volatility.

Assistant Professor Wanwichit concluded that coping with modern uncertainties necessitates cooperation between the government and the public, encompassing information communication, responsible energy use, and preparedness for potential risks.
