Bangkok: Num Kongkrapan is frustrated that a gang of scammers used his photo to falsely accuse him of being involved in an illegal loan sharking operation and then absconding. Another victim has been targeted as scam gangs continue their daily rampage. The latest victim is veteran actor and TV host, 52-year-old Num Kongkrapan, who enjoys a happy life with his family but was angered to see his photo, along with his wife, Oom Panisa, and their three children, appearing on a debt collection page alongside photos of many other people. According to Thai News Agency, the page alleged that the family of Num Kongkrapan and several others in the picture were involved in borrowing money from a woman who then refused to repay the debt, and also wrote threatening messages saying they would not stop publicly shaming them if they did not help in collecting the debt. Most recently, today (January 20, 2026), Num Kongkrapan opened up exclusively to the Nine Entertainment news team, revealing that he had contacted his close f riend, Num Kanchai, for the cyber police's contact number and has already called to consult and file a police report. Initially, the authorities stated that they receive reports from at least 20-30 victims per month regarding similar incidents. Some victims are even extorted for money if they are asked to remove their photos from debt collection pages, despite not having borrowed any money. The police confirmed that even if the old page is closed and a new one is created, they can still track down and prosecute those involved. Kongkrapan also revealed that he knows the woman whose picture was leaked as the one who actually took out the loan because they are friends on social media, where she has over 5,000 followers. He said they haven't spoken or been in contact for over 10 years and he has absolutely no involvement whatsoever in the loan sharking operation. Upon seeing the photo, she immediately posted a clarification on social media, fearing misunderstandings. She affirmed that in her 52 years of life, sh e has never borrowed money from anyone. She also revealed that after filing a police report, she added the debt collection scammers on LINE to explain her lack of involvement in the loan. However, the scammers responded by saying that if they wanted her to remove the photo, they had to help collect the debt, leaving her confused about what she had to do with it. Num Kongkrapan also said that in the past, he had scolded and advised them, asking why they didn't use their knowledge of photo editing and graphic design to find honest work. This angered the scammers, who then took his and his family's photos and posted them on social media, photoshopping them into images of funerals and spreading fake news everywhere. He was quite frustrated by what happened and had to talk to his wife and children, telling them to accept it and not worry too much. He also warned the public to be careful because scammers nowadays are constantly changing their techniques and methods of deception. Therefore, everyone should be cauti ous in everything they do.
