Monporn’ ordered the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand to closely monitor the unstable weather situation, fearing that flights during the monsoon season will be affected and flooding will be monitored to ensure confidence among passengers and airlines for maximum safety.
Mrs. Manop Jareonsri, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed that Thailand is currently facing the problem of unstable weather and heavy rain during the monsoon season, which affects flight visibility and many areas are also affected by flooding. Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd. (AEROTHAI) reported that AEROTHAI is prepared to handle the situation by implementing measures to handle weather conditions that may affect flights and obstruct flight routes in order to increase the level of safety and efficiency in air traffic management in accordance with the guidelines of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to ensure the highest safety for passengers and aircraft, in accordance with the Ministry of Transport’s policy on prov
iding safety to the public. In addition, executives and staff have been sent to the area to provide relief bags to those affected.
Mr. Noppasit Chakpitak, President of Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd. (AEROTHAI), added that AEROTHAI has been coordinating and closely monitoring aviation meteorological data, both in terms of weather forecasts and reports of actual weather conditions at that time, in order to plan air traffic management. It has also determined air traffic service procedures in cases where aircraft under control request to avoid weather conditions, fly around to wait for better weather conditions, or request to change flight routes to alternate airports. It has also determined air traffic management guidelines to ensure maximum convenience, agility, and safety in flights, including issuing warnings for all incoming flights at all airports to prepare fuel reserves to accommodate possible delays. In addition, it has ordered all agencies to monitor all provinces at risk and provide assistan
ce in cases of flooding that results in short-term road cuts, including reporting readiness to raise surveillance levels at all times. Passengers traveling during the monsoon season may experience flight delays at certain times in cases of thunderstorms or unstable weather conditions in the airport area.
However, the public is asked to closely follow the announcements from the Meteorological Department and information from airlines and airports if there are any adjustments to flight schedules or flight cancellations. Please allow extra travel time so that everyone can travel on schedule.
