Akkaradet Affirms Pirapan’s Non-Involvement in Relief Bag Allegations

Bangkok: Akaradet Wongpitakroj, spokesman for the Palang Pracharath Party, has publicly asserted that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, is not implicated in the ongoing investigation concerning relief bags. He stated Pirapan's readiness to provide evidence to support his non-involvement, amidst claims of political discreditation following disputes over electricity bills. Akaradet is confident that these allegations will not lead to a party split or cause MPs to leave.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Akaradet, who also serves as an MP for Ratchaburi and spokesman for the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party (RTSC), addressed concerns regarding investigations into Mr. Pirapan's shareholding in a private company and potential links to the relief bag case by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). He emphasized that Mr. Pirapan has already clarified his position on both matters and is prepared to cooperate with any further inquiries, assuring supporters there is no cause for concern.

Mr. Akaradet reiterated that Mr. Pirapan had no involvement in the relief bag issue, supported by substantial evidence and documents. He suggested that political harassment could be a factor, as Mr. Pirapan's proactive work for the people might have caused friction with opposing parties, particularly in efforts to reduce electricity bills.

When questioned about potential implications for the party's unity, Mr. Akaradet dismissed rumors of a split, insisting that the party remains stable under the leadership of Mr. Pirapan and Mr. Ekkanat Promphan, Minister of Industry and Secretary-General of the Palang Pracharath Party. He affirmed that the majority of MPs are committed to the party's leadership and its mission to serve the populace, urging a focus on public interest amidst challenges.

"I am confident that the majority of MPs are still standing with the party and the party is definitely not split as reported in the news," concluded Mr. Akaradet.
