Bangkok: The Minister of Sports promotes the "Amazing Thailand" running event as a world-class event that creates economic value and becomes a major world marathon. Mr. Atthakorn Sirilathayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, revealed that the 8th "Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2025" World Capital Marathon, presented by Toyota, will be held on November 30, 2025, with over 50,000 runners from around the world applying to participate. He explained that the event, certified by the World Athletics Federation as one of the world's standard capital marathons, is a world-class event that can generate tangible economic value and, importantly, demonstrates Thailand's potential to host world-class sporting events.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), added that the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok (ATM) is a race that meets the standards of major marathons around the world, held in six major cities: Berlin, London, Tokyo, Boston, Chicago, and New York. Sydney was recently announced as the seventh major marathon this year. This demonstrates that a race that meets international standards will be recognized and potentially included as a major event in the future. The "Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok" marks the beginning of a major-level race.
"The recent Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok created a buzz for the sporting event and boosted tourism. This year, the World Athletics Federation oversaw the overall organization of the event, making it one of the world's highest-quality metropolitan marathons. It's a world-class event that generates economic value and prepares us to elevate the event to the level of world majors. Importantly, we're starting today, but it will take considerable time to become ASEAN's first major marathon, or the world's eighth," said Dr. Kongsak.
The Cabinet resolved on October 14, 2025, to estimate the economic value Thailand will receive from hosting the Games over the three-year project at no less than 4.377 billion baht. This will come from spending by competitors, followers, and spectators, both Thai and foreign, as well as creating more than 21,000 jobs and generating no less than 870 million baht in public relations value, covering at least 180 million households worldwide annually (or approximately 450 million people per year).
