Anusorn Urges Anutin Against Dissolving Parliament Amid Scrutiny Concerns

Bangkok: Anusorn Iamsaard, a party-list MP for the Pheu Thai Party, has cautioned Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul against dissolving Parliament to evade scrutiny. Anutin had previously indicated that the minority government is prepared to dissolve Parliament if the Pheu Thai Party submits a no-confidence motion. Anusorn emphasized that fear of degradation should not drive Anutin to take such action. Instead, he urged Anutin to focus on pressing issues, including flood relief efforts, the SEA Games controversy, and illegal investment and scam issues, while prioritizing constitutional amendments.

According to Thai News Agency, Anusorn highlighted that the Pheu Thai Party is ready to engage in discussions on the draft constitutional amendment and has prepared its leaders for an upcoming joint meeting. He stressed the importance of the minority government addressing the demands of the MOA's supporters by pursuing the constitutional amendment. Anusorn also reassured Anutin that the opposition's debate on constitutional amendments will not be used solely to criticize the minority government's failures. He suggested that Anutin should work closely with support parties in the MOA to ensure their backing remains steadfast.

Anusorn further elaborated that while the Pheu Thai Party has multiple scenarios for submitting a no-confidence motion, the focus should be on motions that benefit the people. He warned against dissolving Parliament too hastily, which could leave unresolved issues and hardships for the populace. The emphasis, he stated, should be on resolving the people's problems rather than avoiding scrutiny.
