Bangkok: Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, along with his wife, participated in the traditional Loy Krathong celebration at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem. They followed in the footsteps of former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who expressed his commitment to praying daily for the country's prosperity, peace, and unity.
According to Thai News Agency, the couple was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Sophon Saram, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office Santi Piyatat, Supamas Isaraphakdi, and Government Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat. The event took place near Gate 8 of the Government House, a location frequently visited by former Prime Minister Prayut during this annual festival.
After floating krathongs, Anutin invited other ministers to join, symbolically casting away negativity. He shared that he prays daily for Thailand's prosperity and unity, emphasizing the well-being and happiness of its citizens.
When questioned about the significance of holding the celebration at Khlong Phadung, Anutin highlighted the importance of preserving tradition through appropriate ceremonies. He expressed a desire for the happiness of all, pointing out the quietness of the area and discussing potential economic stimulation initiatives, such as the "Half-Half Plus Phase 2" project, with the Prime Minister's Secretary-General.
