Bangkok:Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has indicated that the anticipated no-confidence debate may occur as early as December. He has directed the Ministry of Interior to compile relevant information to address the interpellation.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister Anutin mentioned that an agreement on the timing of the no-confidence debate has not been reached, despite expectations for it to occur this week. He noted that November poses scheduling challenges for ministers due to numerous domestic and international commitments, including the ASEAN and APEC summits and other high-profile events.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, revealed that the Ministry has already prepared information on 82 issues in anticipation of the debate. Anutin emphasized the urgency of preparing for the debate before the parliamentary session concludes on December 22, 2026, especially given the constraints posed by the royal cremation ceremony.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the involvement of ministries dealing with international affairs, such as the Ministry of Commerce, which is finalizing FTA negotiations with the European Union, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. He urged all relevant executives to ensure their information is accurate and readily available, covering crucial topics such as local government exams, flooding, disaster prevention, and compensation payments.
