Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has responded to comments made by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra regarding the performance of ministers in the coalition government. Anutin, who also leads the Bhumjaithai Party, emphasized that the Interior Ministry is diligently executing its responsibilities.
According to Thai News Agency, Thaksin’s remarks suggested that ministers from the coalition government, referred to as “Father Maha Chamroen,” should expedite their efforts. Anutin interpreted these comments as a general warning from an elder statesman, urging all parties involved to be more proactive in their duties.
Anutin addressed speculation on whether Thaksin was specifically targeting him or other government officials, noting that the Interior Ministry is indeed active and productive. He dismissed any notion that the comments were directed at him or Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, the Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, asserting it was merely a general advisory.
Furthermore, Anutin responded to Thaksin’s statement about the Bhumjaithai Party’s relationship with the Pheu Thai Party, likening it to a familial dynamic with his metaphor that parties, like ‘husbands and wives,’ have moments of disagreement but remain united in their broader goals.
