Army Responds to MP’s Claims on Southern Border Visit

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army clarified the circumstances surrounding the recent visit of the Army Commander-in-Chief to the Southern Border Provinces ahead of the Prime Minister's scheduled trip. This clarification comes in response to statements made by a Member of Parliament (MP) who noted the absence of the Army Commander and the Deputy Director of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) on the official delegation list accompanying the Prime Minister.

According to Thai News Agency, Major General Winthai Suvari, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, addressed these claims by explaining that the Army Commander-in-Chief, who also serves as the Deputy Director of ISOC, had already traveled to the Southern Border Provinces the previous day. This visit aimed to meet with local troops and gather feedback, crucial for decision-making and the establishment of operational guidelines tailored to the current situation in the region.

During this visit, His Majesty had assigned the Chief of Staff of the Army and Secretary-General of ISOC to accompany the delegation. Their objective was to monitor the situation firsthand, receive policy directions from the Prime Minister, and ensure cohesive operations across sectors.

The army spokesperson emphasized that the information shared by the MP was incomplete and potentially misleading, as the MP is not directly involved with security operations in the region. The Army Commander-in-Chief and senior officers have been regularly rotating assignments to key areas, including the borders, to maintain vigilance over national security.

The Royal Thai Army continues to monitor the security situation closely, acting within its authority to sustain peace and order. The spokesperson urged reliance on official information sources and cautioned against spreading incomplete or inaccurate details that could mislead the public.
