Bangkok:Police conducted a significant raid on an illegal gambling den in Din Daeng, arresting approximately 50 individuals and seizing nearly one million baht in cash and chips.
According to Thai News Agency, the operation was led by Mr. Worasit Liengprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, and a special operations team from the Department of Provincial Administration. The raid, called "Lightning Raid on Din Daeng Gambling Den," targeted a large gambling operation in the Din Daeng area of Bangkok.
The raid resulted in the apprehension of 58 people, including 22 men and 23 women, as well as 8 staff members of the gambling den. Among those arrested were two Cambodian nationals identified as organizers. Seized items included high-tech dice games, slot machines, approximately 350,000 baht in cash, around 635,000 baht in gambling chips, gambling trays, and ledgers documenting financial transactions.
Complaints from local residents about noise pollution and addiction issues prompted the Department of Provincial Administration to investigate the gambling den operating on Pracha Songkhro Road. The investigation uncovered significant evidence of illegal gambling activities.
All suspects were charged with "jointly organizing gambling" and "jointly participating in gambling." The evidence and individuals were transferred to Din Daeng Police Station for further legal action, including probes into potential money laundering activities.
The Department of Provincial Administration reiterated its dedication to curbing illegal gambling and other vice activities to maintain social order and public security throughout Bangkok and the country.
