Kanchanaburi:Authorities have dismantled an illegal cross-border internet trafficking network, conducting raids at four locations and seizing high-speed internet equipment used for transmission near the Thai-Myanmar border.
According to Thai News Agency, the Anti-Online Fraud Center discovered cables leading to the Phayathongsu side of the border during the operation in Kanchanaburi. The search team, part of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau's Online Anti-Fraud Center, targeted four locations. In Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, a house was found to contain two radio communication devices and a 71-meter roll of LAN cable. Another site in the same area revealed three internet circuits with cables extending into Myanmar.
Authorities also conducted searches in Samut Prakan Province at two locations Phraek Mai Subdistrict, Mueang District, and Bang Kaeo Subdistrict, Bang Phli District. These actions were based on suspicions of illegally transmitting internet signals across the border, which were authorized for use only within Thailand. The individuals involved had requested the installation of multiple fixed IP internet circuits at a single location in Nong Lu Subdistrict, Sangkhlaburi District, near the Thai-Myanmar border.
The investigation uncovered enterprise-level network equipment, including high-performance routers, switches, signal converters, and high-speed cabling, in addition to computer sets and data storage equipment. The authorities believe these installations were intended to illegally transmit internet signals for use in Myanmar. All related items found at the four locations have been seized, and legal action is underway against those involved.
