Sa kaeo: Authorities are closely monitoring "Khlong Phrom Ho," a high-risk area for illegal border crossings. Security officials are closely monitoring the "Khlong Phrom Hod" canal, a high-risk point for illegal border crossings, following Cambodia's intensified crackdown on call center gangs and Chinese scammers in the Poipet area.
According to Thai News Agency, the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo Province still requires close monitoring. Following continuous crackdowns on call center gangs and Chinese scammers in Poipet, Cambodian authorities have increased the likelihood that those involved may attempt to flee and illegally cross the border into Thailand via natural routes.
The 12th Ranger Regiment Task Force, specifically the 1203rd Ranger Company, has intensified its operations by deploying personnel for continuous foot patrols along the border, especially in high-risk areas with a history of illegal border crossings. One of the key areas under surveillance is the Ban Khok Sabaeng area, where the "Khlong Phrom Hod" canal forms a natural barrier between Thailand and Cambodia. This area is characterized by densely populated communities along the canal, making monitoring difficult at times and potentially allowing it to be easily used as a route for illegal border crossings.
Border patrol officers have therefore been deployed to meet with communities along the border to build understanding and request cooperation from villagers in being vigilant. If they see any suspicious strangers or individuals attempting to illegally cross the border, whether by swimming across canals or using boats, they should immediately notify local authorities so that investigations and action can be taken promptly.
Historical data shows that the Khlong Phrom Ho area has been used as a smuggling route for both Cambodians and foreigners, utilizing natural passages and times when authorities find it difficult to monitor, such as at night or during rainy periods. Therefore, the area remains a high-risk zone requiring special attention.
Military rangers confirmed that they are integrating their efforts with security agencies in the area, increasing the frequency of patrols, and closely monitoring the situation to prevent illegal activities, immigration, and to maintain peace and order along the border.
