Authorities Seize Illegal Meat Products Worth Over 7 Million Baht in Thailand

Lam luk ka: Authorities raided a famous pork sausage and meatball factory suspected of illegally producing and selling products throughout Thailand, seizing contraband worth over 7 million baht. The Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) 4, in collaboration with the Department of Livestock Development, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Public Health Office of Pathum Thani Province, conducted the operation in the Lam Luk Ka District of Pathum Thani Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the raid targeted an illegal meatball factory of a well-known brand, resulting in the seizure of 18 items, including products, equipment, and machinery used in production, totaling 132,725 pieces. The operation was led by Acting Police Lieutenant Colonel Sitsapong Siriwat, Commander of CPPD 4, following information received from the Department of Livestock Development about the factory's illegal activities. The factory was found to be operating without a permit and producing large quantities of meatballs in unsanitary conditions for nationwide distribution.

During the raid in Bueng Thonglang Subdistrict, officials seized various illegal products, including food items lacking proper registration numbers and products with counterfeit or discontinued registration numbers. Raw materials such as chicken meat, pork, beef, chicken skin, and beef tendons, along with machinery used in production, were also confiscated.

The factory, owned by Mr. Atthapol, had previously held a food production license that expired on December 31, 2025, and had not been renewed. Investigations revealed the factory had been in operation for approximately 10 years, producing about 30 tons of meatballs monthly, generating significant revenue.

Food samples have been collected for analysis to detect any contamination by prohibited substances, preservatives, or pathogenic microorganisms. Violations of the Food Act B.E. 2522 (1979) could result in severe penalties, including imprisonment and fines.

Ms. Supatra Boonsearm, Secretary-General of the FDA, expressed gratitude to the CPPD and the Department of Livestock Development for their efforts in the crackdown. She emphasized the importance of adhering to legal regulations and urged consumers to purchase products from reliable sources with appropriate labeling.
