BAAC Waives Debt for Family of Fallen Soldier Sergeant Major Thirayut

Nong khai: The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has extended its support to the family of Sergeant Major Thirayut Sijuichai, a soldier remembered for his bravery. His wife has been relieved of the burden of both principal and interest on all existing loan contracts.

According to Thai News Agency, the gesture was made by Mr. Surapol Pholyot, Director of the BAAC Nong Khai Province Office, who offered condolences on behalf of the bank. Sergeant Major Thirayut, a member of the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment, lost his life while defending Thailand's sovereignty during the unrest on the Thai-Cambodian border on July 28, 2015.

The BAAC's Board of Directors, led by Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Deputy Minister of Finance and Chairman of the BAAC, decided to provide financial relief to the families of soldiers and Border Patrol Police officers who died in the line of duty during the conflict. This assistance includes waiving all loan principals, outstanding interests, and any late fees. The bank's support for Sergeant Major Thirayut's family was formalized at the merit-making hall of Wat Pa Noen Nimit, in the Cheam Subdistrict, Phon Phisai District, Nong Khai Province, on August 2, 2025.
