Bangkok Mobilizes 12 Districts to Tackle Post-Flood Waste in Keha Rom Klao

Bangkok:The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has adjusted its approach by mobilizing 12 districts to collaboratively clear garbage in the Rom Klao and Lat Krabang areas. The initiative aims to complete the task within three days to restore these locations to a clean and safe state.

According to Thai News Agency, Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt, together with Deputy Governors Wisanu Trapsompol and Pornprom Na Wikitseth, inspected the implementation of the post-flood recovery plan. This plan includes collecting large debris and cleaning the area around Keha Rom Klao Road in Lat Krabang District to alleviate public suffering and quickly restore environmental normalcy.

Deputy Governor Pornprom and Permanent Secretary Thaiwut Khankaew coordinated with district directors and relevant agencies to revise the waste collection and disposal plan. This revision, part of the "Working Together to Restore the City" initiative, aims to enhance efficiency by zoning the area and assigning clear responsibilities to partner district offices, targeting completion within three days.

For the operation, the BMA mobilized 1,424 officers and 106 garbage trucks to expedite the collection of large waste items, household waste, and flood-damaged belongings, aiming to restore a suitable environment for the public swiftly.

The cumulative amount of waste collected from flood-affected areas has reached 7,765 tons. The BMA gathered approximately 1,300 tons of flood-affected waste in the Keha Rom Klao area on October 10, 2026, with a cumulative total of 5,085 tons collected from September 30 to October 10, 2026. The operation used a zone-based approach, involving government and private sector personnel to remove large waste items from inaccessible alleys and consolidate them at a designated collection point for transportation to BMA waste disposal centers.

The revised plan involves 12 buddy zones, including Thonburi, Bang Khae, Phra Nakhon, Bang Khun Thian, Bangkok Noi, Phasi Charoen, Thung Khru, Bang Sue, Watthana, Bang Rak, Bang Bon, and Lat Krabang districts. This strategy reduces duplication and increases efficiency by clearly defining areas of responsibility and fostering close coordination between districts and the Environmental Department.

In addition to waste collection, the BMA prioritizes post-flood environmental restoration, managing leftover waste on streets and alleys, removing damaged items, and maintaining cleanliness to facilitate traffic flow. Personnel are instructed to use appropriate personal protective equipment and manage waste for proper sanitary disposal.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will continuously monitor the operation's progress, assess the remaining waste volume, and adjust resources to meet the target of collecting waste within three days, ensuring a clean and safe environment for Lat Krabang residents.
