Bangkok: Police are maintaining heightened vigilance in areas connected to the Middle Eastern conflict. Pol. Maj. Gen. Attaporn Wongsiripreeda, Deputy Commissioner of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police, has revealed measures to monitor key locations such as embassies, synagogues, Jewish community residences, mosques, Shia communities, and airports.
According to Thai News Agency, the police are also tightening security on public transportation systems, including crowded BTS Skytrain stations like Siam Square and Asok. The Deputy Commissioner has instructed relevant units to gather intelligence and coordinate with the 191 emergency number and the Special Branch to monitor high-risk areas, although current intelligence reports remain at a green alert level.
Furthermore, the National Police Chief has ordered increased security in the target areas, particularly in anticipation of a ceremony to commemorate Holocaust victims and support survivors. Instructions have been given to inspect residences and rental properties, ensuring CCTV cameras are operational and well-positioned. Regular patrols and checkpoints will be established to monitor for any incidents.
