Bangkok Police Seeks to Confirm Owner of Controversial Facebook Page

Bangkok:Bangkok Metropolitan Police are urgently working to verify the identity of the owner of the "Godd Dam" Facebook page in relation to a case under Section 112 of the Criminal Code. They are collaborating with the Cyber Crime Division and the Special Branch to gather necessary evidence before proceeding with any legal actions.

According to Thai News Agency, Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom, Commander of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police, discussed the progress of the investigation concerning the "Godd Dam" Facebook page, which is under scrutiny for national security issues. The police are focused on gathering evidence to accurately identify the individual responsible for posting alleged security-threatening messages.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Police have formed an investigative team led by the deputy commissioner in charge of investigations. This team is tasked with collecting evidence, consulting experts, and coordinating with agencies like the Special Branch Police, which has provided information on posts considered to be national security offenses.

Despite previous investigations by the cyber police, which identified individuals linked to the page, the Bangkok Metropolitan Police are conducting their own verification to ensure all facts are confirmed before proceeding legally. The Police Commissioner stressed the importance of proving who actually posted the messages, noting that online accounts do not always reveal a user's true identity.

Police General Itthipol Achariyapradit, Deputy Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, highlighted that security agencies, including the Special Branch Police and Cyber Police, are actively monitoring individuals and groups potentially involved in online security issues. The Deputy National Police Chief reiterated the necessity of thoroughly verifying facts to accurately identify perpetrators before drawing conclusions.
