Bangkok: "Chaiyanok" reiterated that the Bhumjaithai Party opposes casinos and will instead crack down on illicit scammers, emphasizing that it's not a political issue but a matter of national importance.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiyanok Chidchob, Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, underscored the party's commitment to eradicating scams and illegal financial operations that threaten national security. He, along with party candidates Mr. Kosol Patama and Mr. Polpeera Suwannachavi, communicated this message during a public meeting, shedding light on their withdrawal from a coalition with the Pheu Thai Party due to disagreements over a casino scheme.
The Bhumjaithai Party's firm opposition to casinos aligns with their broader strategy to protect Thailand from becoming a haven for online money laundering. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, a key party figure, highlighted efforts to dismantle an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that previously facilitated the entry of scammers into the country. The cancellation of related schemes, including online gambling operations involving iris scanning and digital wallets, is part of the party's comprehensive approach to safeguard Thailand's digital and economic landscape.
Mr. Chaiyanok expressed satisfaction with the strides taken to halt illicit financial activities, emphasizing the national significance of these actions. He pointed out that the ongoing investigations have begun yielding results, with asset seizures from entities like the Bensmith group. Mr. Chaiyanok asserted that these efforts are crucial for national security, as scammer money could potentially finance hostile actions against Thailand from neighboring countries.
Furthermore, Mr. Chaiyanok recounted his role during the Thai-Cambodian conflict, where he prioritized the development of drone technology to mitigate losses in military engagements. He urged citizens to recognize the importance of the upcoming election, highlighting the persistent security threats and the need for decisive leadership in addressing both domestic and international challenges.
