Bhumjaithai Party Withdraws Support from Pheu Thai Party’s Draft Amendment

Bangkok: Bhumjaithai Party has officially withdrawn its support from the Pheu Thai Party's draft constitutional amendment. Concerns over potential violations of the Constitutional Court's ruling led to this decision, as confirmed by the party spokesperson.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Nan Bunthida Somchai, who serves as the Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society and spokesperson for the Bhumjaithai Party, announced the resolution following a party meeting. During the meeting, the draft constitutional amendment proposed by the Pheu Thai Party was thoroughly discussed. The Bhumjaithai Party decided that its members who initially signed the draft must remove their signatures due to fears that the content may not align with the Constitutional Court's ruling.

The move underscores the Bhumjaithai Party's caution in legislative collaborations, particularly when constitutional interpretations are involved. The withdrawal reflects the party's commitment to adhering to judicial decisions while participating in coalition activities.
