Narathiwat: A bomb explosion at Khok Khian Police Station in Narathiwat Province injured several individuals, including children, as it detonated next to the wall of a police flat. The explosion, which occurred last night at 6:49 p.m., resulted in damage to the wall and several officers' rooms, with windows and property affected by shrapnel.
According to Thai News Agency, the blast injured several school boys and police officers' children, aged between 3 and 13. Emergency services, including rescue vehicles from the Kok Khian Subdistrict Administrative Organization and police vehicles, swiftly transported the injured to Narathiwat Rajanagarindra Hospital for treatment. Traffic was halted to facilitate the investigation by EOD and forensic officers.
Witnesses reported that a perpetrator on a motorcycle with a sidecar parked near the wall behind the police flats. As a group of children walked by to study the Quran, the suspect attempted to chase them away before fleeing the scene. The explosion occurred immediately after. Additionally, one police officer residing in the high-rise building sustained injuries.
The initial investigation identified five injured boys, with many more children sent for treatment at Kalayaniwattanakarun Hospital before being transferred to Narathiwat Rajanagarindra Hospital. The authorities continue to investigate the incident to gather more details about the attack.
