According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage shows a male suspect arriving on a motorcycle and parking in front of the house before slowly walking in to steal belongings from 85-year-old Mrs. Nang Khamnimit. The incident occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 9:49 AM in Nong Sawan village, Nong Sawan subdistrict, Mueang district, Nong Bua Lamphu province. Mrs. Nang recounted that the suspect parked his motorcycle near the electric pole in front of her house, opposite Kong Paem Nong Sawan School, and then entered her house through an ajar door. She lives with her two sons, including Mr. Attapol, 51, who was delivering food to a sick relative in a nearby village.
At the time of the incident, Mrs. Nang was taking a shower and found her bed ransacked and her money bag missing. The bag contained 22,000 baht in cash and a bank passbook. Upon her son's return, they reviewed the CCTV footage and discovered the theft. Mrs. Nang explained that the stolen money was savings accumulated since New Year's and Songkran, given to her by her family and grandchildren during visits. She didn't deposit it in a bank because the bank is in the provincial capital, a round trip of over 20 kilometers, making travel difficult.
Earlier, the suspect had attempted a similar crime at another house but was spotted by the homeowner, who shouted and questioned their intentions. The suspect quickly fled on his motorcycle. In some footage, the suspect removed his balaclava due to heat and breathing difficulties before committing the crime at Mrs. Nang's house.
Recently, police at Nong Bua Lamphu City Police Station, along with an investigative team, successfully apprehended the suspect, Mr. A (pseudonym), 68 years old. After committing the crime, he fled and hid at his residence in Suwannakhuha Subdistrict, Suwannakhuha District, Nong Bua Lamphu Province. Authorities seized items used in the crime, including clothing, a knitted hat, and a motorcycle. He has been charged with theft from a dwelling and disguising himself to facilitate the crime.
