Cabinet Extends State of Emergency in Southern Border Provinces

Bangkok:The Cabinet has approved the extension of the state of emergency in three southern border provinces for another three months, from October 20, 2026, to January 19, 2027. This decision affects Narathiwat, Pattani, and Yala provinces, with certain districts excluded.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, Ms. Ploytalay Laksmisangchan, disclosed that the extension marks the 86th time the state of emergency has been prolonged. The areas under the extension exclude Yingor, Waeng, and Sukhirin districts in Narathiwat; Yaharing, Panare, Mayo, Maikhaen, Thung Yang Daeng, Kapho, and Maelan districts in Pattani; and Betong, Yaha, Raman, Kabang, and Krong Pinang districts in Yala.

The Cabinet also approved the draft announcement concerning the extension and acknowledged the continued validity of declarations and orders previously issued by the Cabinet and the Prime Minister under the state of emergency.
