Bangkok: The Cabinet has acknowledged the results of a public opinion survey on government policies for 2025. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Airin Phanrit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society carried out this survey through the National Statistical Office. The survey aimed to gather insights on public expectations concerning government policies, confidence in problem-solving abilities, and overall life satisfaction. This data will assist the government and relevant agencies in monitoring, evaluating, and planning policies to foster equality and equity among citizens.
The National Statistical Office conducted the survey by interviewing a sample of 5,000 citizens aged 18 and above in every province across the nation between October 17-23, 2025. The findings were categorized at both the national and regional levels across five regions: Bangkok, Central, Northern, Northeastern, and Southern Thailand.
The survey revealed several key findings. Firstly, 40.3% of the respondents expect that the government, led by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, will prioritize reducing the cost of living and controlling consumer goods prices. Economic recovery (31.5%), the Thai-Cambodian border issue (30.8%), agricultural challenges (19.4%), and drug problems (18.1%) followed in priority.
Regionally, 36-44% of the population exhibited expectations that the government would focus on reducing living costs more than other issues. Additionally, 86.8% of respondents emphasized the need for policies that increase income and reduce expenses, with peaceful resolution of the Thai-Cambodian border dispute (63.8%), debt resolution and liquidity improvement (58.5%), tackling illegal gambling (45.3%), and eradicating corruption (32.8%) also highlighted as significant priorities.
The survey also measured public confidence in the government's problem-solving capabilities. Approximately 31.0% of respondents expressed high to very high confidence, while 52.6% held moderate confidence. Regionally, the Northeast demonstrated the highest confidence levels at 39.3%.
Life satisfaction scores averaged 7.10 out of 10, with the Southern region scoring highest at 7.32, while Bangkok recorded the lowest average at 6.75. These results provide the government with valuable insights for policy formulation aimed at enhancing citizens' quality of life.
