Qeshm: The cargo ship 'Mayuri Nari' has run aground in Iranian waters off the coast of Qeshm Island, as reported by Iran's Tasnim news agency today. The vessel, a dry bulk cargo ship owned by Precious Shipping Company, had previously been attacked in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month.
According to Thai News Agency, the Mayuri Nari was attacked twice by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on March 11 with unknown weapons. The IRGC asserted that the ship had ignored warnings and attempted to unlawfully enter Iranian territorial waters, leading to a fire and severe damage to the engine room. While twenty crew members were rescued, three Thai crew members remain unaccounted for.
Earlier this week, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a joint operation by Iran and Oman had reached the Mayuri Nari, but the fate of the missing crew members is still uncertain. The report did not include any updates on the status or progress of rescue efforts for the remaining crew.
