Bangkok: Online dangers are imminent as Chaichanok, the Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE), warns the public to be wary of scammers tricking people into investing in "Cafe Amazon" stocks and work-from-home pages offering packaged goods. There is a significant risk of losing both money and personal information.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaichanok Chidchob has assigned Ms. Suchada Sang Thansap, spokesperson for the DE Ministry, to report on the efforts of the Anti-Fake News Center of Thailand (AFNC) in monitoring and reporting fake news. This initiative is in line with the Ministry's policy to prevent and address security and social threats by integrating agency data to promote knowledge and understanding of digital technology among the public. The Ministry has also emphasized the importance of raising awareness about cybercrime, fake news, and disinformation.
Ms. Suchada reported that between November 28 and December 4, 2025, the AFNC received 1,050,113 incoming messages, with 985 requiring verification. Social listening was the most frequently reported channel, with 961 messages, followed by 24 messages from Line Official. Of the 235 cases needing verification, 102 have been confirmed. Among them, the top 10 most popular fake news stories about online crimes were identified, with OR offering investment advice for Cafe Amazon shares via Line ID amazonth069 topping the list.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) highlighted the issue of fraudulent activities, specifically relating to the "OR offering investment advice on Cafe Amazon shares via the LINE ID amazonth069." Upon coordination with PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR) and the Ministry of Energy, it was determined that the account was a fake LINE ID created by fraudsters to deceive the public. This account falsely utilized the OR name and logo to post ads inviting individuals to join a LINE group for investment advice on Cafe Amazon shares. OR has clarified that it is not involved in this operation and does not offer such shares.
The public is strongly urged to exercise caution when consuming information and investing through various channels. For those interested in OR-related investment information, further details can be found at.
The Ministry of Digital Economy also advises the public against providing information or installing applications from unofficial channels, as this may lead to data theft or unauthorized access to bank accounts.
