According to Thai News Agency, the Election Commission anticipates a 65% voter turnout in the Chiang Rai by-election, largely due to favorable weather conditions. Early in the morning, enthusiastic voters began casting their ballots, with results expected to be announced before 9:00 p.m. tonight.
Mr. Sawaeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, noted the lively atmosphere as eligible voters lined up at polling stations located at Ban Sop Kha School. He expressed satisfaction with the clear skies, which are expected to contribute positively to voter participation. Despite challenges posed by the dissolution of Parliament, cooperation from political parties, candidates, and the Chiang Rai Provincial Election Commission is expected to result in a turnout close to the target.
After the polling stations close at 5:00 p.m., officials will begin checking ballots and counting votes. Unofficial results are anticipated between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
The Chiang Rai governor has encouraged the public to participate, emphasizing the importance of this day for the people of Chiang Rai. The Election Commission secretary also visited the by-election for Constituency 7, urging citizens to fulfill their duty by electing capable representatives to the House of Representatives. Voting is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
