China’s Labor Day Holiday Sees Record Cross-Border Train Passenger Numbers

Beijing: China's cross-border train passenger numbers during the Labor Day holiday surpassed 11 million. China released data today showing a total of 11.279 million cross-border travel during the five-day Labor Day holiday, which ended on Tuesday.

According to Thai News Agency, data from China's National Immigration Administration indicates that border officials recorded an average of 2.256 million daily travel transactions, a 3.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The highest number of daily inbound and outbound travel occurred on May 2nd, reaching 2.529 million. Of these, 1.255 million were by foreign nationals, a 12.5% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, 436,000 foreign nationals benefited from the visa-free entry policy, representing a 14.7% increase compared to the previous year.

Regarding inspections of various types of vehicles, including airplanes, ships, trains, and cars used for transporting passengers and goods, the total number was 531,000 vehicles, an increase of 16.6 percent compared to the same period last year.
