Bangkok: The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) revealed that the civil court's dismissal of the asset seizure case against "Lawyer Tum" is now in the process of being appealed by the public prosecutor. The AMLO spokesperson indicated that this legal action is in accordance with the law.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Witthaya Neetitham, spokesperson for AMLO, commented on the civil court's dismissal of the prosecutor's request to seize the assets of "Lawyer Tum," also known as Mr. Sittha Biabangkerd. The case pertains to allegations of fraud involving Ms. Jatuporn Ubollert, or "Jae Aoy." AMLO had initially forwarded the case to the prosecutor to request the court to seize the assets and transfer them to the state. Mr. Neetitham clarified that the prosecutor now holds the responsibility for the case. Although the civil court dismissed the request, the prosecutor retains the right to appeal the decision within a 30-day period, potentially escalating the case to the Supreme Court. This progression signifies that the matter is no longer under AMLO's jurisdiction.
Despite the current dismissal, the case still includes a criminal aspect that awaits consideration. The prosecutor's next steps involve appealing the decision and requesting the seizure of assets pending the outcome of the appeal.
