Commander of 4th Army Region Calls for Intensified Efforts at Buketa Customs Checkpoint

Narathiwat: Commander of the 4th Army Region inspected the Buketa Customs checkpoint, emphasizing that all units must intensify efforts to intercept all illegal activities through all available channels. Lieutenant General Norathip Poynok, who also serves as the Director of Internal Security Operations Region 4, visited the Buketa Customs checkpoint located in Buketa Village, Khosit Subdistrict, Waeng District, Narathiwat Province, to assess ongoing operations and provide strategic directives aimed at bolstering security along the Thai-Malaysian border. This visit took place at 4:30 PM on April 17, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Poynok received comprehensive briefings on the current situation concerning the movement of individuals and goods across the border, with particular focus on the measures being implemented to screen for illegal items. He underscored the importance of collaboration among all government agencies, including the military, police, and administrative bodies, in working closely with customs officials. This integrated approach is crucial to intensifying efforts against the smuggling of tax-evading goods, narcotics, and potential threats from violent groups utilizing border routes to perpetrate crimes.

In a show of support, Lieutenant General Poynok offered words of encouragement and presented gifts to the officers stationed at the checkpoint.
